SCOT FRENCH

Founder of HP Investments

MORE ABOUT SCOT FRENCH

Scot French is a respected investor who has extensive experience managing portfolios for corporate executives, institutional fund managers, and other successful clients.

He is the founder of the boutique investment firm HP Investments, also known as Hopewell Partnership Investments. The company was named after Scot’s hometown of Hopewell, Illinois. Scot founded HP Investments in 2015 in Brooklyn before later relocating to lower Manhattan.

Before he founded HP Investments, Scot refined his expertise as an analyst for several important Wall Street investment firms. He moved from the position of analyst to the position of significant management responsibility and has traveled a lot to visit clients and seek out new investment opportunities.

It was during this period that Scot would develop his understanding of the needs of small businesses, emerging startups, and maturing companies, seeking ways to extend their growth. This education was equally as valuable as the education he received as an undergraduate and candidate for the MBA he earned in 2011.

While studying, he managed to balance a full course load as well as an internship, all while publishing a highly respected financial newsletter.

The majority of Scot’s knowledge and capabilities range from wealth creation and entrepreneurship to mergers and acquisitions, IPOs, syndicated leveraged loans, high yield bonds, privately negotiated senior secured debt, asset-based leasing, and private equity. He pursues investment opportunities in North American and international markets.

Scot describes his perspective on investing as holistic, focusing not only on the numbers, but the quality of the talent, their values, the company culture, trends in relevant industries, competitors’ profiles, the macroeconomic environment, and consumer sentiment. He believes in character as a key investment variable – not just the character of the corporate leaders, but also the character of the business.

Scot French is involved in a range of charities t and his community of Summit, New Jersey. He enjoys chess, and training for marathons with the hope of achieving a Boston Marathon qualifying time.
